New Month, New Projects & A New Writer; MSG Welcomes Marji McClure

Author: Peggy Anne Salz

I love August. It’s usually great weather and always a great time to get matters in order before the conference season starts up again. Regular readers will know I am putting the downtime to good use, producing analysis and commentary based on a string of exclusive interviews and briefings I’ve had with companies in the search, advertising, and social media spaces. As always, it’s well worth checking back regularly. I’m also honored that Jonathan MacDonald now links directly to MSG from his blog, so that’s another way to keep up to date on the latest posts at MSG.

A special thanks to Jeff Fishburn at OnPR, who – true to the company name – is “always on”. MSG is fortunate to have him on board as a combination public relations and social media advisor. We had a great conference call earlier this week to map out MSG strategy -a huge part of which is the social media features you’ll see roll out on MSG over the next months. I don’t want to give it all away – but let’s just say MSG will not only report news; it will let readers have an active say in the news we cover. I’m excited. In addition, Jeff connected MSG with the investor community – a cross-pollination that will ensure MSG has the inside track on some cool companies coming out of stealth mode.

Jeff also turned me on to new ways to use Twitter to share what I am working on and reach out to companies for projects and columns. I recently used it to encourage companies involved in ad-enabling the idle screen to reach out to me. I had an excellent briefing with Cédric Mangaud,CEO, Abaxia, and would welcome input from some brands/operators on the topic. The interviews are going into a series of columns I am writing for the Thinkernet (the site for news, analysis and opinion about the future of the Internet). Please keep in mind that I also contribute to MobiAdNews, Mobile Entertainment, and a growing number of publications and destinations in the mobile space, so your ideas/pitches/input will never go to waste!

And now your news releases will also have a top-notch spot on MSG. We welcome Marji McClure who will be in charge of News Groove, a regular feature that will present MSG’s pick of the developments and announcements that matter to the mobile industry.

Marji, a technology writer based in Connecticut, covers digital content for publications including eContent, a must-read magazine (and that’s not only because I write a regular column for it). I am a huge admirer of eContent because it regularly pushes the envelope with hard-hitting in-depth features on super-cool topics including global content delivery, brand management, video search, and the semantic Web. Welcome Marji!

BTW: James Cameron is wrapping up preparation for a string of mobile industry conferences, and will be back soon (after a well-deserved rest) to share his observations on mobile advertising and social media.

And finally …. I have been commissioned by Wireless Business Review (WBR) to write a regular thought leadership column. Deadline August 8. WBR is published quarterly and distributed to 10,000+ wireless telecom execs – mainly at the C-Level. My first column will be about (you guessed it!) mobile search. I’m particularly interested in connecting with vertical and multi-modal providers, so please feel free to contact me directly – or ping Andrea on Skype (andrea_henninge).
