Mobile World Congress: A Personal Test Of (Im)Mobile Communications

Author: Peggy Anne Salz

Andrea Henninge and the rest of the MSG team did a wonderful job arranging back-to-back briefings with the usual mix of mobile search execs (Google, Medio, JumpTap, Motricity), as well as some super-cool startups just coming out of stealth mode.

However, I regret to report that I injured my ankle earlier this week and have been advised by my doctor not to travel for the next week – ten days. I’m most disappointed that I won’t be able to celebrate with Netsize at their invitation-only party marking the launch of the new Netsize Guide, a comprehensive annual industry report documenting the state of the global mobile content and services market. (I was greatly looking forward to a dance and Champagne toast with Renaud Ménérat, Netsize Marketing Director and the person most instrumental in creating a truly mobile Web 2.0 version of the Guide…) It’s hardly a substitute, but I can celebrate from a distance with the proud news that MSG is a media partner and will promote a special MSG co-branded edition of the Netsize Guide beginning this Wednesday when the 290-page tome makes its official debut.

My sincere thanks to all of you who have sent me personal emails, texts and even cards filled with well wishes. I’ve attended “3GSM” since I can remember and I am frankly bummed to miss it. However, the majority of execs I had lined up for F2F interviews have kindly agreed to connect with me at the appointed time via a mix of phone interviews and webinars. This material, in addition to the interviews and podcasts I collected this week and last under NDA, ensures that MSG will again have the inside track and analysis that has made it an essential read.

Thanks for your well wishes, Christine. I hope you will enjoy the analysis and podcasts I have lined up this week. I’d love to connect – so please feel free to take this discussion off-line.
