Kylie Minogue Takes The Wraps Off Mobile Social Networking Site; Will The Personal Touch Pay Off?
Another announcement that shows the marketing value of mobile social networking. Kylie Minogue – the princess of Australian pop – has announced the launch of KylieKonnect.com her very own mobile social network. The site, designed by New Visions Mobile, allows fans to register, blog, communicate with other users and upload images and videos, all from their mobile phones.
There is nothing new in musicians using social networking to market themselves – MySpace is already a necessary marketing tool for the music industry – but in launching her own mobile site, Kylie will be able to develop a closer and highly personal relationship with her fans. It will also not have escaped her notice that her fans will represent a sought after market segment for advertisers as more and more brands seek to launch mobile campaigns. Smart move Kylie!
